SCRANTON: Mrs. Connie Faye Nettles Godwin, 58, wife of the late James L. “Jimmy” Godwin, died Saturday, December 18, 2010, at McLeod Hospital after an illness. Mrs. Godwin was born February 2, 1952, in Florence County, a daughter of the late Zingle Lee Nettles and Annie Matthews Nettles. She was formerly employed with Lowe‘s Physical Therapy and was a member of Gilead Free Will Baptist Church. Surviving are her daughters, Sherry G. Melton and her husband, Greg of Scranton, Angela “Angel” G. Barefoot and her husband, Perry of Patrick and Loretta Ann Godwin of Scranton; special niece, Tammie McCutcheon and her husband, Randy of Coward; grandchildren, Jamison Melton, Ashton Melton, Ethon Melton and Karston Melton, Cameron Barefoot, Conner Barefoot and Haylee Barefoot, Ryan White and Jeana White, Taylor Godwin, Britney McCutcheon and Hunter McCutcheon; sisters, Ivanell Lawhon and her husband, Will of Florence and Annie “Candy” Hanna of Coward; brothers, Curley Nettles and his wife, Mary of Effingham, Homer Nettles and his wife, Patricia of Evergreen, Veron Nettles and his wife, Louise of Effingham, Raydine Nettles and his wife Lena of Lake City and Elton Nettles and his wife, Bert of Friendfield; and many loving nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 21, 2010, at Gilead Free Will Baptist Church with burial in the Godwin Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Monday, December 20th, at Carolina Funeral Home, 215 E. Highway 378 ByPass, Scranton, SC, and at other times at the home of Sherry & Greg Melton, 1325 McKnight Road, Scranton.
