Biden To Sign Executive Order Regarding Cybersecurity In The U.S.
The provisions aim to make it easier for U.S. authorities to sanction foreign governments that target the U.S. with cyberattacks.
President Biden issued an executive order aimed at strengthening the nation’s cybersecurity.
Provisions in the order call for the development of minimum cybersecurity standards for government technology contractors. The order will require them to submit evidence that they’re complying with the rules.
The provisions also aim to make it easier for U.S. authorities to sanction foreign governments that target the U.S. with cyberattacks.
The change comes after several recent hacking incidents linked to China, Iran, Russia and North Korea.
The order will also allow sanctions to be imposed on foreign hackers who target hospitals or other organizations with ransomware.
