FLORENCE- Aaron “A.L.” Lee West, Jr., age 62, passed away, Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at Grand Strand Hospital. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 18, at Southside Baptist Church. The family will receive friends following the memorial service. A.L. was born in Thomasville, GA , son of Magdalene Jackson West and the late Aaron “Pete” Lee West, Sr. He was a graduate of Bennettsville High School, Campbell College and received his master‘s degree in education from East Carolina University. He was a realtor with Beach Girls Realty of Carolina Beach, NC for many years. He served his country in the United States Army as a paratrooper and was a disabled veteran of the Viet Nam War. A. L. was loved by everyone. Surviving in addition to his mother of Dunn, NC, are his wife, Anne Byrd West of Florence; step-children: Sabrina Suggs, Jaime Wise, Beverly Moody and Walker Gainey; grandchildren, Aaron Suggs, Christopher Suggs, Cody Suggs, Caleb Moody aka “Carrot Top”, Margaret Moody aka “Motor Mouth”, Jeb Moody aka “Turtle” and Katie Blackwell; sisters: Sherry West (Richard) Bryan and Pamela West (Keith) Skipper, all of Wilmington, NC; also, a niece, Jessica (Bryan) Lesesky; nephew, Tyner Tew, all of Raleigh; special cousin Joel Elliott Sills (Joanna Metz) and many special aunts and uncles. A.L. was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Jessica Blackwell.
