Several Warming Shelters Are Open During The Colder Weather

With brutally cold temperatures among us, there are several places you could go to escape the wintry conditions.
In the Myrtle Beach area, the New Directions homeless shelter operates on a “cold blue” status when it’s below 40 degrees. It is located at 1005 Osceola Street. It usually hosts over 200 people, but takes in an extra 40 to 50 people on colder nights.
Lake City officials have opened the LC 278 community center as a warming station, which will remain open to people through Sunday.
In Florence, the “Courtney McGinnis Graham” community shelter is operation as a warming station and that is located at 535 S. Church Street.
The House of Hope of the Pee Dee in Florence is also open for shelter.
The city of Marion has also opened a shelter at Grice’s Rec. Center on Gurly Street that will be open until 7am Saturday.
And the city of Bennettsville opened a countywide warming station at its community center along N. Marlboro Street which will be open until 8am Saturday.
