Trump Sentenced In Hush Money Case Without Facing Penalties
Trump's conviction still stands, and he will enter another term of presidency as a convicted felon.
Donald Trump was sentenced for his criminal conviction in the hush money case Friday morning.
Judge Juan Merchan said the only lawful sentence that does not intrude on the office of the president is an unconditional discharge on all 34 counts. That means he will not face fines, prison, or any other penalties.
However, his conviction still stands, and he will enter another term of presidency as a convicted felon.
Prosecutors recommended the sentence saying, “We must be respectful of the office of the presidency and Trump’s pending inauguration.” –
The president-elect took to his Truth Social platform to comment saying, “The radical Democrats have lost another pathetic, un-American witch hunt, there was never a case.” He went on to refer to Friday’s events as a “despicable charade.”
The sentencing came just 10 days before Trump is set to officially take office.
