Death Toll Rises As Fires Continue To Burn Across California

The Palisades is now the most destructive ever to hit Los Angeles County.

The death toll continues to rise as wildfires burn across parts of California.

At least 10 deaths have been recorded, but officials warn the actual toll will remain unclear until it’s safe for investigators to access neighborhoods.

Over 10,000 structures have been destroyed between the Palisades Fire and the Eaton Fire.

The Palisades is now the most destructive ever to hit Los Angeles County.

Tens of thousands of people have been impacted by evacuation orders since the fires first sparked.

Hundreds of members of the National Guard are being sent to assist law enforcement. They will be stationed at traffic control points to ensure safety.

The deployment will bring the number of personnel, including firefighters, on the ground to 8,000.

In addition, Gov. Gavin Newsom has warned against looters and scammers “who are targeting vulnerable victims.”

“To those who would seek to take advantage of evacuated communities, let me be clear: looting will not be tolerated,” Newsom said.
