Terry, Martha Brisson

Mrs. Martha Brisson Terry of Laurinburg, formerly of Gray‘s Creek passed away on Monday, December 13, 2010 at the age of 87. Mrs. Terry was born in Robeson County on August 18, 1923. She was the daughter of the late James and Lula Mae West Brisson and the beloved wife of the late Oscar Terry. Martha was a devoted homemaker that dedicated her life to caring for her family and others. She formerly served as a Sunday School Teacher and volunteered with Vacation Bible School. She attended Sandhills Community Church, enjoyed traveling and visiting nursing homes. She was also an avid sports fan and loved to cook. Mrs. Terry will be remembered as a precious and loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by two children, son, John Terry and wife Carolyn of Fayetteville; her daughter, Joyce Smith and husband Ed Smith of Laurinburg; five grandchildren, Alan and Deneane Smith, Ken and Cindy Smith, Jeff and Lois Terry, Steve and Anne Terry, Martha and John Locklear; twelve great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by siblings, Frank Brisson, Joe Brisson, Plumie Kinlaw, Lottie Bailey and Mary Rabon. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service on Wednesday, at Richard Boles Funeral service. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel officiated by Rev. Jeff Stone. Burial will follow the service at the Mount Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery in Gray‘s Creek.
