In wake of the discovery, the school will be fined $4,000 which is $500 per student athlete.
The Marlboro County football team has been banned from state playoffs due to lacking a “bonafide change of address.”
The South Carolina High School League’s executive committee announced that eight players on the team were found to be ineligible.
In wake of the discovery, the school will be fined $4,000 which is $500 per student athlete.
Marlboro County did appeal to the committee. However, after a hearing Wednesday via Zoom, the appeal was unanimously denied.
The committee said if one or more students are given relief the fine would be reduced.
The committee’s commissioner said that even if one of the students was confirmed to be ineligible, the sanction would still remain.
The executive committee also suspended Gray Collegiate Head Coach D’Angelo Bryant for the rest of the season and the school was placed on warning status for one year.
