Taylor, Freeman Shelton

FLORENCE, SC FREEMAN SHELTON TAYLOR, 87, of Florence, died Monday, December 06, 2010 at his residence after an illness. Mr. Taylor was born in Mt. Airy, North Carolina a son of the late Germa Carl Taylor and Daisy Beatrice Shelton Taylor. He was a US Navy veteran having served during World War II. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where in his later years was a Bishop three times, a Patriarch and a Temple Sealer. Mr. Taylor retired as a store manager and salesman for Firestone Tire. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Yvonne Hiatt Taylor of Florence; sons, Kim (Kathy) Taylor of White Oak, NC, Del Craig Taylor of Columbia, SC and Eric Carl (Tara Elizabeth) Taylor of Trabuco Canyon, California; daughter, Terri Yvonne Taylor of Circle Pines, Minnesota; brother, Carl J. Taylor of Orem, Utah; sister, Pansy B. Seal of Mt. Airy, NC; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1620 Malden Drive, Florence, SC 29505. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM Thursday, December 9, 2010 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Burial will follow at the Florence National Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 11:00 – 12:00 AM Thursday, December 9, 2010 at the church prior to the service.
