James Michael “Jim” Slaughter, 49, died Thursday, December 2, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital. A family memorial service will be 4 p.m. Monday at the home of his mother. Born July 10, 1961 in Laurinburg he was a son of Ann Beacham Slaughter and the late John Harrison Slaughter, Sr. Jim was a good humored fellow who was liked by many and always had a kind word for all. He grew up in Laurinburg but spent many summers at Garden City beach with his mom while he was growing up. Jim took over the management of Southern Cleaners after the death of his father John Harrison Slaughter, Jr. and managed it for 14 years. Jim had a truly deep love for his daughter, Paris, A fitting memorial would be to give those you love a hug and understanding and unconditional love. He is survived by his daughter, Paris Marie Slaughter of Raleigh; his mother, Ann Slaughter of Laurinburg; his brother, Dr. John Slaughter and wife, Tammie of Laurinburg; two sisters, Jean Slaughter of Raleigh and Jackie Robinson and husband, Tom of Fayetteville; his ex-wife, Debbie Slaughter of Laurinburg.
