Blue , Orellia Eugene

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” Miss Orellia Eugene Blue the daughter of the late Gilbert Blue and Fannie Page Blue was born December 20, 1907 in Dillon County and departed this earthly life on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 in the Pines Nursing Home Dillon S.C. after an extended illness. Orellia accepted Christ at an early age, and was a life long member of Bethel Presbyterian Church. She was a faithful member serving as Church Musician, Sunday School Teacher, and in any capacity needed until her health failed. She was a professional baker and a cook who worked for Dillon School District 2 until her retirement. Orellia cooked and baked at work and because she loved this job so dearly, she would bake at home along with ironing. She found great joy in these two tasks. Orellia was the eldest of six children all who predeceased her: Ophellia B. Johnson, Virginia B. Perry, David Blue, Doretha B. Thompson, and Robert Blue. She was a great big sister and caretaker to her siblings, and family in need of her love and care. Miss Orellia was a great historian, and loved to talk to people young and old. To know her was to love her. God blessed her to be here 102 years, twenty day shy of her 103rd birthday! She was proud and happy to tell her age. She loved her family, friends, and all children. Orellia leaves to cherish fond memories nieces Dorothy Gooden of Jersey City, N.J., Irene (James) Green, Miami, Florida, Jennifer Glover of Rockingham, N.C., and Jean (Johnnie) McDonald whom she adopted as a daughter of Rowland, N.C. Two nephews Ben and Jack Johnson of Clinton, N.C. Betty Moody an adopted daughter and Harold Carmichael an adopted son of Dillon, S.C. Dorothy Jean (Andrew) Lane, Mary Alice Morgan and Sarah Lester. A host of family and friends all of whom she loved. She lived the last several years at the Pines Nursing Home where she leaves fond memoires to the staff, clergy, nurses, doctors care givers, and especially Carolyn Samuels, Lula Smith, Millie Manning and Carrie McLellan.
