Stackhouse Sr, Johnny Benson

On Monday, November 29, 2010 at 11:40 p.m., God saw that His servant was tired and He whispered, “Well done thy good and faithful servant, I will give you peace and rest.” He called Johnny Benson Stackhouse, Sr. home to be with him after an extended illness. Johnny was born on June 8, 1926 to John Emmanuel and Annie Odessa Nichols Stackhouse. He grew up in Evergreen, North Carolina where he attended the public school system. Johnny left North Carolina and moved to Baltimore, Maryland. He worked at Glen L. Martin Airport in Baltimore for many years. Later, he became self-employed by purchasing his own taxi cab which he drove until he retired. His favorite baseball team was the Atlanta Braves. He loved listening to gospel music and the word of God preached on the radio. In 1947, he was united in holy matrimony to Ruth Hatchell and this union was blessed with one daughter. In 1951, he married Cora Lee Bowens and to this union five children were born. Johnny was preceded in death by his parents and wives; and three brothers, Jessie Stackhouse, Samuel Stackhouse and Weldon Stackhouse. He leaves to mourn his passing and cherish precious memories: three daughters, Ann Stackhouse, Faye Stackhouse of Baltimore, MD, and Mary (Elder R.C.) Bethea Page of Pamplico, SC; three sons, Johnny Benson, Jr. (Mary) Stackhouse, Linwood Ray Stackhouse and William (Gloria) Stackhouse, all of Baltimore, MD; four grandsons, Davry Willis, Shawn Stackhouse, Jordon Stackhouse, all of Baltimore, MD, and John Bethea, Jr. of Budd Lake, NJ; six granddaughters, Shantell Stackhouse, Shawn Stackhouse, Victoria Stackhouse, Angelia Hill, all of Baltimore, MD; Glendoreia Bethea of East Brunswick, NJ; and Carlensha (Darrel) Bethea of Franklin Park, NJ; one brother, Ray Edward Stackhouse of Baltimore, MD; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
