Blackwell, Laney

Laney Blackwell, age 62, died Thursday, December 2, 2010. Laney was born in Florence County, son of Myrtle Windham Blackwell and the late Gydies Blackwell. He served his country with the United States Navy and retired from CSX Transportation after 26 years. He was an avid Gamecock fan. Surviving in addition to his mother of Darlington, are two sons, Seth G. Blackwell of Myrtle Beach; and Reed (Teniele) Blackwell of Darlington; one daughter, Ashley B. Clark, also of Darlington; three grandchildren, Hunter Clark, Haley Clark and Shelly Blackwell; also, a sister, Gwen (Johnny Newton) of Bennettsville. Laney was preceded in death by a brother, Don Blackwell. Memorial services will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, December 5 in the chapel of Belk Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service.
