Jannik Sinner Wins The U.S. Open

This is the first year since 2002 that none of the members of men’s tennis “Big Three" won a grand slam.

Ranked as the world’s No.1, Jannik Sinner won his second grand slam singles title Sunday.

Taylor Fritz, ranked No.12, was bidding to be the first American man to win a grand slam singles title in 21 years. However, 23-year-old Sinner took the win at the U.S. Open slating 6-3, 6-4, and 7-5.

Sinner said the title means so much because the last period of his career was not easy. He went on to dedicate the title to his aunt who is not doing well health wise.

Sinner is now the first Italian man to ever win the U.S. Open.

This is the first year since 2002 that none of the members of men’s tennis “Big Three,” Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and the now-retired Roger Federer, won a grand slam. Instead, the majors were split by Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, who won the French Open and Wimbledon.
