Judge Denies Trump’s Request To Move Hush Money Case To Federal Court
Hellerstein reported Trump's reasons fall short of the high level needed for the case to be moved to federal court.
A federal judge denied Donald Trump’s request to move his hush money case to federal court.
U.S. District Judge Alvin Hellerstein said in a four-page order that Trump offered two reasons as to why his case should be removed. One was because the New York courts were biased against him. The other was that his trial judge did not adequately review the issue of presidential immunity.
Hellerstein reported those reasons fall short of the high level needed for the case to be moved to federal court. He also ruled that the hush money payments paid to Stormy Daniels were not related to a president’s official acts.
The ruling means the case will remain in New York state court.
