WHO Reaches Deal With Israel To Temporarily Pause Fighting In Gaza
The temporary truce would allow for polio vaccinations for hundreds of thousands of children.
The United Nations World Health Organization said it has reached an agreement with Israel for limited pauses in fighting in Gaza.
The temporary truce would allow for polio vaccinations for hundreds of thousands of children after a baby contracted the first confirmed case in 25-years in Palestinian territory.
The vaccination campaign is set to begin on Sunday in central Gaza, with a “humanitarian pause” lasting from 6am-3pm for three days. The time could be extended if needed.
A similar pause will take place in southern Gaza before repeating again in northern Gaza.
The vaccination campaign is targeting 640,000 children under the age of 10, who will each receive two drops of an oral polio vaccine in two rounds.
