Thornton, Robert

Robert D. Thornton, 76 of Seven Lakes passed Monday November 22, 2010 at his residence. Mr. Thornton was born January 25, 1934 to the late Martin Sylvester Thornton and Mary Greeley Thornton in Westchester County, New York. Mr. Thornton worked as an estimator for M. Ecker Construction Co. of Chicago for twenty years. After retiring in 1993, he worked as a construction consultant until moving to Seven Lakes in 1997. He and his wife joined Seven Lakes Country Club and enjoyed the golf and various social functions there. Rob loved being everyone‘s handyman and also volunteered in the maintenance department of FirstHealth fixing wheelchairs and stretchers. Mr. Thornton is survived by his wife of fifty four years Julienne Thornton, Sons, R. Scott Thornton (Heather) of Palatine, IL; Thomas Thornton (Sue) of Lake Zurich, IL; Daughters, Jill (CJ) Winckler of Littleton, CO; Katie (Brian) Patterson of Virginia Beach, VA; A brother, Thomas Thornton of California and sisters, Mary Irwin of Florida and Margaret Welch of New Jersey. Twelve grandchildren, Zack, Paige, Brooke, Jake, David, Patrick, Luke, Ben, Jake, Matt, Kaylen and James. Mr. Thornton was preceded in death by a brother Martin Thornton and sister Anne Anderson. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed. A Funeral Mass will be held 4PM Friday November 26, 2010; at Our Lady of The Americas Catholic Church in Candor with the Rev. Ricardo Sanchez officiating. Rite of committal will be at a later date with military honors in Seven Lakes Cemetery.
