Trump’s Lawyers Ask Judge To Halt Sentencing Till After The Election

Trump was convicted in May of 34 felony counts of falsifying business records.

Donald Trump’s attorneys are asking a judge to postpone his hush money trail sentencing.

Trump was convicted in May of 34 felony counts of falsifying business records. The charges come in regards to payments he made to Stormy Daniels. They aimed to allegedly keep her quiet about an affair ahead of the 2016 presidential election.

The sentencing has been postponed once before. Judge Juan Merchan originally set the hearing for July 11 but pushed it back to September 18 in light of the Supreme Court’s ruling earlier this summer that granted Trump some presidential immunity from criminal prosecution.

Trump’s team is now asking for the sentencing to be postponed until after this years presidential election.

The judge has said that he will rule on Trump’s request to throw out his conviction based on the high court’s immunity decision on September 16.
