Suspect Identified In Road Rage Incident That Led To Shots Fired

No injuries were reported, but the tractor-trailer was damaged by at least two shots.

The suspect accused of firing shots during a road rage incident has been identified.

Simon Boyd has been charged with attempted murder, along with several gun charges and one drug charge.

Shortly before 9am on Friday, the driver of a tractor-trailer called police for reports of a rolling shooting. Officials responded to the 4200 block of West Highway 501.

Police were informed that Boyd started waving a gun out the window and fired five to six shots at the 18-wheeler driver and his vehicle.

The shots fired continued over a few minutes as boyd followed the driver for several miles.

No injuries were reported, but the tractor-trailer was damaged by at least two shots.

Boyd was pulled over and shell casings were found on the passenger floor board of his truck. Officials also found a gun and a joint in the vehicle.

Boyd remains detained at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
