August 21, 1924 – November 12, 2010 Obituary: Mr. C. M. Fowler, age 86, a lifetime resident of Tabor City, NC passed away Friday, November 12, 2010. He was born August 21, 1924 in Tabor City, NC, a son of the late Dock Fowler, Sr. and the late Vera Nobles Fowler. Mr. C. M. was predeceased in 1994 by his wife of over 44 years: Margaret Elliott Fowler from Green Sea, SC. She passed away after waging a courageous and faithful battle with breast cancer for over 13 years. He was also predeceased by his brothers: Forrest, Dock Jr., and Garland Fowler. Mr. C. M. was the founder, original owner and operator of Fowler‘s Grill in Tabor City, NC and Loris, SC. He was well known for his home-style hot dogs and hamburgers and his fast and friendly service. Mr. C.M. had a passion for his business and he loved his community. His customers were his friends and he never met a stranger. Mr. C. M. often made his customers, family, and friends laugh with his unique sense of humor. He lived life based upon the most simplest of principles, as his name reflected. He was down to earth and had a strong work ethic. Mr. C.M. began his business at an early age. His loyalty, loving, and caring ways to all that he came in contact with was beyond reproach. Mr. C. M. had a generous and giving nature and often did acts of kindness toward others and expected so little in return. Mr. C. M. was a member of the Tabor City Baptist Church. He was a former Sunday School Treasurer and also served as a member of the Benevolent Committee. Mr. C. M. is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Rhonda Fowler Canipe and Andre Canipe of Tabor City, NC; his son, Byron E. Fowler of Fancy Gap, Virginia; his grandson and wife, Craig and Steffani Larrimore of Wilmington, NC; his brother: Howard D. Fowler and his wife Betty Fowler of Tabor City, NC; his sister-in-laws: Lois Elliott Ward and her husband Dalton Ward, Jr. of Raleigh, NC and Alice Elliott of Loris, SC; his loyal friend and companion, Annie Mae Bellamy of Loris, SC; and a host of customers, friends, nieces, nephews, and his grand-dog: Duke. A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Tabor City Baptist Church Monday, November 15, 2010, at 11:00 AM officiated by Pastor Bruce Schmidt and Rev. Ronald Ward. Entombment will follow in the Twin City Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
