Sampson, Bonnie Woodell

Mrs. Bonnie Woodell Sampson of Laurinburg passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2010 at the age of 96. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 7, 2010 at the Laurel Hill Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Don Malpass. Burial will follow the service in Hillside Memorial Park. Mrs. Sampson was born June 13, 1914, daughter of the late Claude and Julia Woodell and the beloved wife of the late Carl Julius Sampson. She and her late husband were farmers and the owners of Carl‘s Drive-in Restaurant recently featured in Our State Magazine. She served faithfully as a longtime member of the Laurel Hill Baptist Church. Bonnie loved to travel and participate in the Growing Friendship Club. She was an avid gardener and loved making crafts. She will be remembered as a precious and loving mother, grandmother and sister. She was also preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Mrs. Sampson is survived by her children, son, Layton Sampson of Montgomery, Alabama; three daughters, Mildred S. Simmons of Elizabethtown, Judith Gail Rigsbee of Durham and Catherine Seagroves of Mebane; a brother, Cleveland Woodell of Richmond, VA; two half sisters, Lois Revels of Lumberton and Shirley Fitzpatrick of California; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. prior to the service on Sunday at the Laurel Hill Baptist Church.
