Supreme Court Rejects Bid To Halt Trump’s Sentencing In Hush Money Case

The former president was found guilty on 34 counts of falsifying business records to cover up a $130,000 payment to Stormy Daniels.

The Supreme Court rejected a bid by the state of Missouri to pause Trump’s upcoming sentencing in his hush money case.

The former president was found guilty on 34 counts of falsifying business records to cover up a $130,000 payment to Stormy Daniels. The payments were allegedly made to keep her quiet about an affair between the pair amid the 2016 presidential election.

Missouri’s Republican Attorney General Andrew Bailey filed a lawsuit against New York asking the Supreme Court to pause Trump’s impending sentencing and lift the gag order placed in the case.

Bailey argued the case violated the right of Missouri residents under the constitution’s First Amendment claiming New York is attempting to rig the 2024 election.

The Supreme Court denied the halt and Trump is set to be sentenced on September 18.
