Simone Biles Makes History Winning Olympic All-Around Title
Biles is the first female gymnast to win nine career medals at the games since 1980.
Simone Biles is back on top!
The 27-year-old won the Olympic all-around title. She earned her second gold medal in the event, becoming just the third woman to earn the title multiple times and the first to do it in non-consecutive games.
During her performance on the bars, Biles struggled causing her to fall to third place. She then regrouped and went on to close the competition on the floor earning a high score behind her high-flying tumbling that was loaded with difficulty, she had secured a 59.131 final score, 1.199 better than Brazil’s silver medalist. Followed by America’s Suni Lee who took bronze.
This was Biles’ sixth career olympic gold medal and ninth medal overall. She is the first female gymnast to win nine career medals at the games since 1980.
