Biden Administration To Resume Shipments Of 500-Pound Bombs To Israel

Biden's motion to move forward with the bomb shipments comes after the Israeli prime minister accused the U.S. of withholding arms transfers.

The Biden administration is set to resume shipments of 500-pound bombs to Israel.

The explosive devices were originally part of a weapons package which was held up over concerns regarding their use in Gaza, where Israeli forces have been accused of using heavy munitions in densely populated areas.

However, the 500-pound bombs were not held up over said concerns, but instead were paused because they were also part of a shipment of 2,000-pound bombs.

The decision to halt the shipment of both was due to concerns that Israel would use the munitions in their Rafah operation, which the U.S. did not support. Israel has since pushed into Rafah and fought hamas across the city.

Despite that, Biden’s motion to move forward with the bomb shipments comes after the Israeli prime minister accused the U.S. of withholding arms transfers, prompting a feud.

The shipment of the 2,000-pound bombs is currently still on hold.
