A children’s hospital in Kyiv was partially flattened as a result. The facility is Ukraine’s largest children’s medical center and has been significant in the care of some of the sickest children across the country.
Two floors of the hospital were demolished, comprising an area of 4,300-square-feet. Over 600 patients were impacted.
Search and rescue operations are continuing Tuesday.
The incident killed at least 39 people including four children.
President biden called the strikes a “horrific reminder of Russia’s brutality.” He plans to meet with Ukrainian leader Zelensky during the NATO Summit to reiterate support and discuss assistance.
