Coastal Carolina’s Melissa Jefferson Earns Spot On Team USA For 2024 Olympics

The runner raced to a first-place finish with a time of 10.91 seconds in her women's 100-meter preliminary heat to advance to the semifinals.

Coastal Carolina track and field’s Melissa Jefferson earned a spot on Team USA for this year’s Olympics.

The runner finished in first-place with a time of 10.91 seconds in her women’s 100-meter preliminary heat on Friday. The win allowed her to advance to the semifinals at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team trials in Oregon.

On Saturday, Jefferson finished second in the qualifying finals with a time of 10.80 seconds.

The Georgetown native will now be making her first Olympic appearance in the women’s 100-meter competition. The races will take place on August 2 and 3 in Paris.
