President Biden And Ukrainian Leader Zelensky Sign Bilateral Security Agreement

President Biden and Ukrainian Leader Volodymyr Zelensky signed a historic bilateral security agreement Thursday.

The two presidents signed the agreement at the end of the first day of the G7 summit being held in Italy.

Biden said, “Our goal is to strengthen Ukraine’s credible defense and deterrence capabilities for the long term.” He added that a lasting peace for Ukraine must be underwritten by it’s own ability to defend itself as well as to deter future aggression and the U.S. is going to help ensure the country can do both.

The agreement is also expected to serve as an eventual bridge to Ukraine’s membership into NATO.

President Biden said the U.S. is committed to continue military and economic aid for Ukraine.
