Investigation Opened After Missing Dog Found Shot To Death In Conway Pond

The dog had two visible gunshot wounds to the leg and one in the center top portion of its head.

An investigation has been opened after a missing dog was found shot to death in Horry County.

On Sunday, police responded to a home on Bramblewood Lakes Drive in Conway on reports of a dead canine.

The owner informed the responding officer that his three dogs left his house around 3am. A few hours passed when only two of the three dogs returned.

The owner spent the day looking for the dog with help from the community but could not find it.

At around 5:20pm the owner received a call from an unknown man reporting he found the animal in the retention pond on Gravelley Short Drive, which is the next street over from the owner’s residence.

The neighbor used a fishing rod to retrieve the dog and called the number on his collar.

The dog had two visible gunshot wounds to the leg and one in the center top portion of its head.

The wounds appeared to be caused by a small caliber firearm.

Anyone who can provide any information regarding this incident is urged to contact the Horry County Police Department.
