Several Major Airlines File Lawsuit Against The DOT Over New Rules

The suit alleges the DOT exceeded its authority by placing the new rule, calling it an “arbitrary, capricious” change.

Major airlines have filed a lawsuit against the federal government over new rules.

Recently, the Department of Transportation revealed new rules that would require carriers to disclose all airline fees up-front. That includes fees for checked and carry-on bags as well as change and cancelation fees.

The suit alleges the DOT exceeded its authority by placing the new rule, calling it an “arbitrary, capricious” change. It was also said the new rules would confuse consumers and complicate the purchasing process.

Delta, American, United, JetBlue and more airlines all took part in filing the lawsuit.

The DOT has not yet commented on the allegations.
