Four Officials Are Dead And Four Others Injured After Incident In Charlotte N.C.

The U.S. marshals fugitive task force attempted to serve active felony warrants on a male suspect at a residence along Galway Drive in the city's North Tryon Division.

Four law enforcement members were shot and killed and four others were injured in Charlotte Monday.

Around 1:30pm, the U.S. marshals fugitive task force attempted to serve active felony warrants on a male suspect at a residence along Galway Drive in the city’s North Tryon Division.

39-year-old Terry Hughes Jr. allegedly began shooting, striking multiple officers.

Police on the scene requested immediate backup and the suspect allegedly continued to fire as more officers arrived.

Hughes then reportedly exited the home with a firearm and officers fired on the suspect. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Eight officers were transported to hospitals with gunshot wounds. Task force members, Sam Poloche and Alden Elliott were later pronounced dead, along with a third whose identity has not been publicly released yet. Local officer Joshua Eyer also later succumbed to his injuries.

The other four injured officials’ identities have not been released.
