Construction for a new amenity in Myrtle Beach is nearing completion.

Crews began working to build a kayak launch on March 20.

The $200,000 project is being constructed in front of the Myrtle Beach Parks, Recreation, and Sports Tourism building on Farrow Parkway.

The dock will be at Thunderbolt Park and will stretch 16-feet offshore.

It aims to give kayakers seamless access to the water.

For now, those who use the dock will need to bring their own kayaks or paddle-boards. However, the city said kayak rentals could be available in the future.

The launch provides a ramp for anyone who is handicapped.

Swimming and motorized boats are prohibited.

The kayak launch is expected to complete sometime in early May.
