Inmate Of Georgetown Co. Detention Center Dies From Suspected Overdose
An investigation led to a jail administrator being fired after booking Lambert the night of the incident and failing to thoroughly search her.
An incident at the Georgetown County Detention Center resulted in the death of one inmate.
45-year-old Kelly Lambert was allowed to serve a sentence on weekends for a traffic charge. She is now accused of bringing illicit drugs into the detention center on March 15 when she was booked.
Two inmates were transported to a hospital after they were found unresponsive in their cells.
23-year-old Shelby Ashby died and the other inmate, recovered and was returned to the jail.
