Brief Police Pursuit Involving Stolen Car Resulted In Fiery Crash
A short pursuit then took place before the car crashed into a gas pump at Franklin Avenue and Evans Street.
A brief police pursuit resulted in a fiery crash in Florence Wednesday.
Police were informed about a stolen vehicle shortly after 8pm near Warley Street.
Officers noticed the vehicle while investigating and attempted to pull the car over.
A short pursuit then took place before the car crashed into a gas pump at Franklin Avenue and Evans Street.
Flames broke out prompting evacuation of nearby businesses and residences.
The fire department was able to control the fire and police pulled the suspect out of the vehicle unharmed.
No one was injured during the incident.
The suspect was taken into custody.
Several intersections were closed during the evacuation while crews were on the scene, but have since reopened.
