Trump And Biden Address Laken Riley Death During Georgia Rallies
Last week, the House passed the 'Laken Riley Act,' which requires the detention of any migrant who committed burglary or theft.
President Biden and Former President Trump appeared in the same state over the weekend for the second time during the presidential race.
The candidates competed in rallies on Saturday in Georgia.
Both addressed immigration as well as the death of 22-year-old Laken Riley. The University of Georgia student was found murdered last month on the school’s campus.
The suspect was identified as Jose Ibarra, an undocumented immigrant from Venezuela. Riley’s death became a political flash-point.
President Biden backtracked on comments he made during his State of the Union address about the alleged killer. He said he should of referred to Ibarra as undocumented instead of illegal.
Trump said Biden should not be apologizing to the killer and blamed Biden’s laws for the incident.
Last week, the House passed the ‘Laken Riley Act,’ which requires the detention of any migrant who committed burglary or theft.
Ibarra was charged in a separate incident before Riley’s murder.
