Buster Lee
SCRANTON: Mr. Buster Lee, 76, husband of Geraldine Shealy, passed away peacefully Monday, October 11th, 2010 after a long illness. Mr. Lee was born in Florence County on November 5th, 1933, one of three children of the late Jimmy and Hattie Matthews Lee. He grew up in Coward and attended J.C. Lynch School. In 1955, he married the late Rudell Lee and the home was blessed with two daughters, Wanda (Rudy) Lee and Gail (Kevin) Howell. Mr. Lee was the loving grandfather of four grandchildren, Brooke Lee, Matthew Lee, Justin Lee, and Philip Howell. Mr. Lee joined the United States Air Force in 1951 and served in Korea for four years. After leaving the Air Force, he returned home to marry Rudell Lee. He worked at Vulcraft, a division of Nucor from 1956 to 1989. At Vulcraft, he was a Line Supervisor, where he was respected and admired by his fellow workers. His wife, Rudell, died in March of 1987 after a long illness with Lupus. Mr. Lee then married Geraldine in 1995. After retiring from Vulcraft, he opened Buster‘s Grocery and Grill. It was here he spent many of his retirement years doing what he enjoyed most in life. It was also here that his grandsons spent many happy times with their Papa. He was a faithful member of Lee‘s Tabernacle Pentecostal Holiness Church until his illness prevented him from attending. He and Geraldine, his devoted wife of 15 years, spent many happy times together traveling, fishing, gardening, and sharing life. He was also very fond of his wife‘s children, Joy (Vince) Matthews and Robert (Beverly) Springs, and their children, Jenny and Rebecca, and great-granddaughter, Morgan. Mr. Lee‘s surviving family includes his wife, Geraldine Lee, of the home; Wanda (Rudy) Lee and their sons, Matthew of Columbia and Justin of Scranton; Gail (Kevin) Howell, and their son, Philip, of Florence; a sister, Delores Springs, of Timmonsville, and many special nieces and nephews. He will also be deeply missed by his special in-laws, Donnie, Deleon, Dot, Marbeth, Cleo, Susie, and the late David Lee. Mr. Lee was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Lee; and a granddaughter, Brooke Lee. The family of Mr. Lee will have visitation from six until eight o‘clock p.m., Tuesday, October 12th, 2010, in the funeral home, and at other times in the home of his daughter, Wanda Lee, 1555 Craneneck Road in Scranton. Funeral services for Mr. Lee will be held at two o‘clock p.m., Wednesday, October 13th, 2010 in the Brockington Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Matthews Cemetery in Coward.
