Current Chief Justice Donald Beatty has reached mandatory retirement age and is set to leave the bench this summer.

Current Chief Justice Donald Beatty has reached mandatory retirement age and is set to leave the bench this summer.

Lawmakers voted unanimously to elect John Kittredge as Beatty’s successor.

Kittredge has served the Supreme Court since 2008.

Once the transition is made, S.C. will be the only state with an all-white male Supreme Court.
