The idea is that they'd have separate entrances and seating areas...but the same building, kitchen, and staff.

If you can’t choose between IHOP and Applebee’s, there’s exciting news: you may not have to anymore. For the past five years, they’ve been owned by the same parent company and the CEO says they’re going to be creating “dual-branded” locations soon. The idea is that they’d have separate entrances and seating areas…but the same building, kitchen, and staff. and the seating areas could be blended so that at breakfast, when there are more IHOP customers, they could spill over into the Applebee’s area, and vice-versa at dinner. They have a test restaurant in Mexico.
