Dillon Man Pleads Guilty To 2022 Murder Of School Principal

Authorities found Cook deceased inside a car on Southwind Road in August of 2022. She had been shot once in the chest with a 9mm handgun.

A man accused of killing a Dillon County principal, pleaded guilty to murder Tuesday.

Kyle Church killed 54-year-old Wendy Cook. She was the principal at Stewart Heights Elementary School in Dillon School District Four.

Authorities found Cook deceased inside a car on Southwind Road in August of 2022. She had been shot once in the chest with a 9mm handgun.

An investigation led to Church’s arrest. He has now pleaded guilty to charges of murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Church was sentenced to 50 years in prison.
