A slew of wildfires continue to sweep across Texas Wednesday.
The series of blazes, which started on Monday, have prompted evacuations and cut off power to thousands. The fires also forced a brief shutdown of a nuclear weapons facility.
Strong winds, dry grass and extremely warm temperatures continue to feed the flames.
Gov. Greg Abbott issued disaster declarations for 60 counties as the main wildfire has grown to the second-largest in the state’s history.
An unknown number of homes and other structures have been damaged or destroyed.
No deaths have been recorded at this time.
Abbott warned that the wildfires could grow in the coming days as high temperatures and windy conditions continue. He said, “Texans are urged to limit activities that could create sparks and take precautions to keep their loved ones safe.”
