How Virtual Reality is Helping Seniors

A group of seniors reported feeling more positive after a VR session as well as less socially isolated.

Virtual Reality is appearing to help senior citizens enjoy life more. Stanford University researchers studied people ranging in age from 65 to 103 from seventeen senior communities around the U.S. Participants were able to choose VR experiences ranging from parachuting, watching stage performances, or visiting places like egypt or paris. One senior shared how the experience affected him, saying it brought back memories of traveling, while another said it made them think of their time growing up on a farm. Researchers discovered almost 80% reported feeling more positive after their session and 60% felt less socially isolated.
