Merle Louise Payne Shepherd age 85, of 1555 Willis Ave. NC died Friday October 1, 2010 at Golden Living in Lumberton NC. Funeral Services will be held Monday October 4, 2010 at Floyd Memorial Chapel in Lumberton at 1:00 PM with Rev. John Bruce officiating. Burial will follow at Meadowbrook Cemetery in Lumberton. Visitation will be Monday October 4, 2010 from 12:00-1:00 PM prior to the services at Floyd Mortuary and Crematory in Lumberton. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clayton & Bertha Payne and a brother, Clayton Aden “Tom” Payne. She is survived by one son, Dennis Elton of South Haven MS; one daughter, Sheila Spaulding of Cummings GA, 1 brother; James Houston Payne of Summerville SC; four sisters; Doris Averill of Lenoir City TN, Linda Taylor of South Haven MS, Bettye Barrett of West Memphis, AR and Wilma Moore of Lumberton, NC; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
