The American Red Cross and the NFL are asking people to give blood or platelets this month, which is national blood donor month.

The American Red Cross is addressing an issue with support from the NFL.

The Red Cross announced it is experiencing an emergency blood shortage as the U.S. sees the lowest number of people donating blood in two decades.

Over the past 20 years, the number of donors has reportedly fallen by nearly 40%.

The Red Cross pointed out that it has a roughly 7,000-unit shortfall in blood donations between Christmas and New Year’s Day alone and those types of shortages can have a devastating impact on those who need emergency blood transfusions.

The American Red Cross and the NFL are asking people to give blood or platelets this month, which is national blood donor month.

Anyone who donates platelets or plasma will automatically be entered for a chance to win a trip for two to the Super Bowl LVII in Las Vegas. The game is set to be played on February 11th.
