January 6, 2024 marks 3 years since the U.S. Capitol riot occurred and an investigation is still underway.
Members of far-right extremist groups, former police officers, an Olympic gold medalist swimmer, and active duty U.S. Marines, are among over 1,230 people who have been charged in the large prosecution of the case.
Around 750 people have been sentenced to prison and the hunt for suspects is far from over. Authorities are still working to identify over 80 people wanted for acts of violence at the Capitol and to reveal who placed pipe bombs outside the Republican and Democratic national committees’ offices the day before the Capitol attack.
