Death Investigation Underway After Body Found In Robeson County

The deceased victim has been identified as 50-year-old Tara Barton of Lumberton. Her body has been sent to the North Carolina Medical Examiner's Office to determine the cause of death.

A death investigation is underway after a body was found in Robeson County.

Around 5:30 Wednesday morning officers were flagged down by a woman who said she was walking behind a car repair shop and came across a woman’s body on the ground by one of the junk vehicles.

The shop is located in the 400 block of Chippewa Street.

The deceased victim has been identified as 50-year-old Tara Barton of Lumberton. Her body has been sent to the North Carolina Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause of death.

Family members said they last saw her around 3pm on Tuesday.
