Self-Checkout Style Security Lines Coming to Airports
The new technology will be tested in Las Vegas next month.
Airport security will soon look similar to self-check out queues at the grocery store. The Transportation Security Administration has partnered with the Science and Technology Directorate to create a self-checkout style security line that allows pre-check passengers to efficiently scan themselves and their bags. Both companies say the goal for the new technology is to keep travelers and security officers safer and to keep the line moving, by reducing contact between the two as well as the number of bags agents have to pick up and move around. The new technology will be tested in Las Vegas next month and then rolled out to airports nationwide.
