Florence High School Student To Remain Detained After Knife Incident

On Tuesday morning, a resource officer at the West Florence High School was forced to engage in an altercation that broke out in the cafeteria.

A teen remains detained after a knife incident unfolded at a Florence school.

On Tuesday morning, a resource officer at the West Florence High School was forced to engage in an altercation that broke out in the cafeteria.

A student was witnessed waiving a knife at other students before threatening the officer when he attempted to address the situation.

Within minutes the knife was taken from the teen and they were detained.

No one was hurt during this incident.

On Thursday, it was decided that the teen will remain at the Department of Juvenile Justice in Columbia for 10 days. Another hearing will then take place to determine if the student should remain at the detention center or be in custody of his parents until the outcome of the charges against him.
