Man Arrested After Being Accused Of Hitting Victim With A Shovel

Police responded to reports of an assault in a wooded area between 27th and 25th Avenue south near a Waffle House on Kings Highway.

On Wednesday, a man was arrested in connection to an assault incident in Myrtle Beach.

On Monday, police responded to reports of an assault in a wooded area between 27th and 25th Avenue south near a Waffle House on Kings Highway.

Upon arrival, officers were informed the victim was assaulted by Eddie Detres. She claimed Detres believed that she had stolen from him while he was sleeping. After repeatedly denying his accusations he allegedly hit her in the head with a shovel. Detres then fled on foot and was not found on the scene.

Police noted the victim had noticeable minor injuries consistent with her claim.

Detres was arrested the following day on charges of felony first-degree domestic violence. He remains detained at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
