The Grand Strand Humane Society is getting a new home.
After months of searching and attempts to relocate, the organization requested a 40-year lease on nearly 10 acres near the Myrtle Beach Gas Turbine site in Horry County. Santee Cooper’s Water Services and Resource Management Committee approved the request.
The new location, across from Coastal Grand Mall on Highway 17, will provide a new space for an adoption center, clinic and kennel for animals.
The agreement must still be approved by the South Carolina Joint Bond Review Committee before it can be finalized.
If approved, they hope to have the new facility up and running by the end of 2025.
