Suspect Detained In Connection To Several Shootings That Left Six People Dead

A motive behind the attack is unclear and the identity of the suspect in his 30s remains undisclosed at this time.

A series of shootings in Austin, Texas, left six people dead and several others injured.

Shortly before 11am on Tuesday. A school resource officer was shot and injured and around two hours later, a man and woman were fatally shot. Around 5pm, a cyclist reported he had been shot and injured and around 6pm officers responded to a possible burglary.

When officers arrived on the scene of the burglary, they encountered shots fired from the suspect and returned fire, one of the officers was struck several times but suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect then allegedly led officers on a high-speed chase that ended in a crash. The man was then arrested with a firearm in his possession.

During the pursuit, two people were found shot to death inside the residence that was burglarized.

It was discovered the suspect was connected to all of the shooting incidents as well as a separate shooting near San Antonio that left two people dead.
