Student Detained After Threatening Fellow Student With Knife

The school's administration and Florence law enforcement are working together to address the situation.

On Tuesday morning, a West Florence High School student was arrested after a knife was pulled on school property.

The incident took place during breakfast in the school’s cafeteria.

A school resource officer was nearby and noticed a disturbance going down. The resource officer then witnessed a student waving a knife at another student. When the officer advised the student to drop it, they allegedly threatened the officer with the weapon. Within seconds the officer was able to secure the student and the knife.

No one was hurt in the incident.

The school’s administration and Florence law enforcement are working together to address the situation.

The student has since been transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice in Columbia.
